The Ploys of Summer

Remeber the Slinky, "the favorite toy of girls and boys?"
Remember how much fun it was; how it wiggled and jiggled?

Well, some of your birds have a favorite food that moves and grooves like a Slinky – Mealworms! These wriggling little insects can attract a multitude of birds when added to a backyard birdfeeding station.

They're definitely a favorite of birds such as wrens, chickadees, bluebirds, mockingbirds, robins, thrushes, thrashers, titmice, woodpeckers and occasionally, certain warblers.

Mealworms are typically served in a feeder with smooth sides so they can’t crawl out. A variety of feeders, including our Dinner Bell and Supper Dome, can be used to hold mealworms and suet at the same time.

And while you're offering those mealworms, don't forget about all the other bird activities as you ready your yard for summer. Watch for all the hummingbirds in the area and check out
the goldfinches that are flaunting their new pristine plumage.

Take some time between mowing, raking and mulching to stop by the store. We have what you need to make your home a summer haven, including wind chimes and other garden decor that can make great Mother's Day gifts.

And of course we also have those Slinky-like mealworms, the favorite food of your feathered girls and boys.
